so did not run today. finished late at hosp. was trying to think where all the time went to....so maybe a break down of the day will help sort things out.
8am-9am: morning report. suspected PE. can't remember anything i learnt from that! darn! BAD memory
9am-11am ward rounds with Dr S. Met a patient who was very agressive(tied down to bed) and was hurling vulgarities like nobody's business. never heard so many F words in a sentence before!I was so taken aback! He has mutiple problems that caused that, one is the benzodiazepine withdrawal effects. Another is toxicity in his brain secondary to his chronic drinking problem. So it is reversible. His mother talked to us, and was crying. I really felt like joining her. Cos to hear a loved one say those vulgarities to you, even though u try to think not to take it personallY(cos its the disease that is the problem), is alot to take on
11am-11.30am. Dr S bought the registra and I coffee. WHEE! hehe. we sat down and he answered my questions on Epilepsy.
11.30am-12.50pm cont ward rounds
12.50pm-1.10pm driving to Mater Hospital
1.10pm-2.10pm attending grand rounds conducted by neuro registra at Mater Hospital. Really good man. I don't regret going. topic: Venous Sinus Thrombosis
2.10pm-2.40pm drive back to John Hunter Hosp
2.40pm-3pm lunch with textbook
3pm-7pm ????still can't believe i spent that many hours on just 2 patients. So took history of 2 patients, did full neuro examination on 1. then wrote up report of 1.
