So, its 12am. Just got back from Emergency dept at the hosp. Did the shift from 5pm-11pm. What did i see?
Was glad that I could clerk some patients, answer parents questions and learn things. Hot British Doctor was there supervising me....so just hearing his accent made me want to stay in ED longer and not be tired! haha.
day started out at 10am, i went to Big W to but my boy a present. got him a remote-controlled toy car. So after lects at hosp, went to deliver the gift to him. he was excited at first, but when i visited him later, he was preoccupied with another present from someone else which was a toy PDA phone.....so obviously my toy car was left in the corner. yes, he is only a child and yes, he is sick so he wouldnt know better. But i just took it personally and went into my depressed state. I had to elave the room, walk into the staff cafeteria and eat chips and chicken, even though i just had lunch.
In the middle of my ED shift at nite, went to visit him again. He was so happy to see me, turned on his bed room light and opened his door to welcome me. But after 1 game of snakes and ladders, i had to leave. I know he was sad that i was leaving but couldnt connect with the way he expressed it- asking me to "just leave". Again, I felt hurt.
Other than that, this is a quote he said....
he looks at me and giggles. he says, " u make me laugh. I am laughing like a rabbit."
me:"rabbits don't laugh"
him: " well, in the cartoons they do!"
he's gonna be discharged soon. I'm gonna miss this boy that has been in my life for the past week.
